Today, we have some important news to share.
We’ve made the tough decision to close down our debit card program on October 9th, 2023. Our commitment to planting trees remains strong, and focusing on our popular walk-to-plant and spend-to-plant products allows us to scale our environmental impact faster.
Before we discuss why and what’s next, we just want to express our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. Not long ago, we planted our first tree. Today, we've planted over 5 million trees together.
None of this would have been possible without your early support for our debit card. Your commitment to a greener future started everything. You are responsible for every tree we’ve ever planted. As a token of our gratitude, we’d love to offer cardholders 2000 reward points.
Why are we closing the card?
Over the past year, the vast majority of the trees we have planted have been funded through other products- like Walk To Plant, our Tech store, and our Plant store. By focusing our time, effort, and resources on improving these, we’ll be able to scale our impact much faster!
So, what’s next?
Even though we are saying goodbye to the debit card, we aren’t going anywhere. Our mission, as always, has been to plant 1 billion trees with you. Today, we are more confident than ever in our ability to achieve that goal together.
Our app provides a range of great tools that help you plant trees effortlessly, and we have so many new products coming soon!
To get you started, check out a couple of our new tree-planting tools below:
- Enable Spend: Click the 'Spend' tab on the homepage and link one of your existing cards to our app. You can now keep earning reward points as you spend, rounding-up your purchases, and planting trees!
- Credit Card: We are actively exploring launching a tree-planting credit card as a replacement for the debit card. If you are interested, please let us know in this form.
- Card Closure: Over the next month, we’ll need you to withdraw funds and close your card. To see the next steps, please carefully read through this article.
